What is cosmetic tattooing?Cosmetic tattooing is a semi-permanent treatment, where pigments are applied to the upper dermal layer of the skin to enhance, define, or fill to create your desired look. All cosmetic tattoo treatments are performed with single use, disposable equipment.
-
How long do cosmetic tattoos last?Cosmetic brow tattoos typically last between 1 to 3 years, depending on factors like skin type, lifestyle, and compliance to aftercare. A refresh session is recommended every 12–18 months to maintain the shape and colour.
-
What is the cost of cosmetic tattooing?Prices vary based on the area being treated. You can find specific pricing details by following the BOOK ONLINE button, or feel free to contact Jessica for a quote.
-
What is the difference between microblading and powder brows?Microblading creates fine, hair-like strokes that mimic the natural look of your eyebrows. Powder brows use a soft, shaded technique to create a more defined, powdery finish. It gives a fuller, more filled-in appearance without the sharp lines of microblading. Both techniques are semi-permanent but provide different aesthetics.
-
Does cosmetic tattooing hurt? While everyone’s pain tolerance is different, most clients find cosmetic tattooing to be tolerable. A topical numbing cream can be applied to the area to minimise discomfort during the treatment.
-
How long do cosmetic tattooing treatments take? The treatments range from 1 to 2.5 hours for the first session. This includes a pre-treatment consultation, shaping and mapping, pigment selection, and the actual tattooing process.
-
Is there any downtime afterwards? While there is minimal downtime, the treated area will go through a healing process over the next 5 -10 days. During this time, you may experience some swelling, redness, or scabbing. Full healing can take 4–6 weeks.
-
How should I take care of the tattooed area?Aftercare is important to ensure optimal results: Avoid wetting the tattooed area for the first 7 days. Apply the recommended aftercare ointment. Do not scratch or pick at scabs. Avoid applying make up/moisturisers directly on the tattooed area. Avoid sun exposure, swimming, or sweating excessively for the first 2 weeks.
-
Will my cosmetic tattoo look darker right after the procedure?Yes, the treated area may appear darker and more intense right after the treatment. This is normal, and the pigment will lighten as it heals. Expect your tattoo to look 20-40% lighter once fully healed.
-
Can I get a cosmetic tattoo if I have sensitive skin or allergies? If you have sensitive skin or known allergies, it’s important to discuss this during your consultation. A patch test can be performed at least 48 hours before the treatment to ensure there is no allergic reaction to the pigments or numbing agents.
-
Do I require a touch-up appointment?Yes, a touch up appointment is essential to complete your cosmetic tattoo, and to make minor adjustments to the shape, colour, or definition if needed. Touch ups are done 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment.
-
How soon can I see the final results? The final look of your cosmetic tattoo will emerge after the healing process, typically around 4–6 weeks after your first session. This allows the pigment to settle and the skin to fully heal.
-
Can I get a cosmetic tattoo if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding? For safety reasons, we recommend postponing the treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The pigments and numbing agents may not be safe during these times.
-
What happens if I don’t follow aftercare instructions? Not following aftercare instructions can affect the healing process and may result in uneven pigment retention, fading, or infection. It's crucial to follow all aftercare guidelines to ensure the best results.
-
I am prone to cold sores. Will this affect my lip tattoo treatment? If you're prone to cold sores, it's important to be aware that they can be triggered after lip tattoo procedures. To help prevent an outbreak, it is recommended to visit your GP for appropriate anti-viral medication before your lip tattoo treatment. This will reduce the risk of a cold sore developing after the treatment.
-
My lips are prone to dryness. Will this affect my lip tattoo? If your lips are prone to dryness, it can potentially impact the healing process and results of your lip tattoo. Dry, cracked lips may make the procedure less comfortable and could affect pigment retention. It is recommended to exfoliate and apply a thick balm such as Lansinoh nipple balm to your lips regularly leading up to your appointment and following the aftercare instructions carefully to ensure the best healing and results.
